Project Description:
In 2021, a study looked at the condition of 768 miles of asphalt streets in Durham. It found that we need about $20 million each year to improve the overall condition of our streets, which is currently rated 69 out of 100 on the pavement condition index (PCI). A PCI is a numerical index between 0 and 100 that is used to measure the severity and extent of distresses seen on paved surfaces and is widely used by municipalities to measure the performance of road infrastructure.
Bond Funding: $30,000,000
Project Timeline:
Pavement repairs, which includes pavement preservation, will likely start in the summer 2025, and may take up to two construction seasons to finish the bond-funded projects.
